TALE OF APLENTY STIGMAS  UNSETTLED..

                                    By SATISH P BABU

There are innumerable types of fictions across the globe. And of course a bit of among them is something that portray the agonies of society at it's best.
though the authors discretion upon their work is never ought to be compromised or questioned, becoming a mute witness to the abundance of anarchism converts them into deplorables, undemocratic and in certain terms, unjust as well.

The context is a stigmatized character of a society we exist, upon non contagious but sensitive diseases like HIV, Aids etc. Though we claim ourselves an enlightened diaspora of sensible folks our outlooks on the diseases concerned are mere vanity.
Here, when a popular author like AJAY K PANDEY whose debut work YOU ARE THE BEST WIFE was a gigantic bestseller, pays heed to such a sensitive subject, it's an encouraging move.

He is a made writer who seemed never thought of being an author unlike his concentration on a sound career. But Things went upside down when his life passed through unexpected waves. As far as a reader who is eager for what they want is concerned what is absorbed from the book, how is the theme elaborated, what the content is involved are matters, neither the authors 'made_born' theory. However, he made it through his debut book that immersed the readers in fathom grief as it was a real life story. Loosing someone we deeply love is both inconsolable and indefinable. But it is not such an easier endeavor to convert the same into a readable write up.

His simple yet engaging narrative is again incorporated in the second book HER LAST WISH
that ensembles grief, passion for life, power of love, societal stigmas, enigmatic mindsets of educated people etc. The novel unveils the plight of a just married couples  Vijay and Astha. On the first act itself we find a tragedy the family meet with Vijay see through the fatal disease affected to his sweetheart from somewhere else. Rest of the plot defines how he overcome the trauma and simultaneously her last wishes makes him a fighter to the destiny Notwithstanding he was an introvert in nature. He endorses indeed the notion that necessity is the mother of invention for his dying wife is translating his both books  as precious romantic memoirs to be kept ever.

Elaboration of a fatal and 'nasty' disease to a shielded society through a romantic verse makes this novel a bold gesture and a commendable fiction among others. Civilization means understanding  the human beings who need assistance and standing by them. It was about ten years ago I come across a heartfelt news that one of my relatives got affected with the fatal disease during an accidental check up in a government hospital. Unfortunately the harder side of the plot was, his health was dwindling remarkably with little hopes left to the survival. In the meantime villagers were in a hurry to gather for resolution to forbid him from entering the village after the hospital. No one, even his friends tried to visit  him and his family was also forbidden by the villagers. He was in dire need for an assistance in hospital. As he was so fond for my mom she stepped in to the hospital with me.I swear it was my mom who nursed him till his last breath. My part was just to stand by both of them. After the return villagers were reluctant to talk or interact with us.As I was running a fortnightly on that time,no one dared to offer more shackles on us.there is no wound that time can't heal. Eventually everyone forgot the episode with newer episodes came up to adore and fill their vacuum.
This is the routine mindset of Indian diaspora over the diseases like HIV and AIDS.

HER LAST WISH triumphs in  keenly delivering the agonies of affected people and their families in general. A highly sophisticated approach is the need of hours to address the weird outlooks of society firstly in collaboration with the governments concerned. Ajay k Pandey, who wins clubbing eternal love to the characters tries to make aware of the prominence of the facts through his fiction that intelligently succeeded in creating a pro- affected-person stance amongst the readers. It would definitely have been a damp squib, a possible 'statement fiction ' unless an intensive love story  incorporated with this drama. It's through the protagonists life readers enlightened to the stark realities sustaining in our country where those affected people rooted  out to somewhere else from his /her birth place and stoned to death to maintain the decorum. A responsible author should have a third eye. when he utilizes it.. That's defining human.
